TopCoat® F11™ FAQ

General Application
The application process is quite simple and easy. You can chose to spray TopCoat® F11™ into a micro-fiber pad and wipe it on the desired surface, or spray TopCoat® F11™ directly on the surface and buff it in immediately with micro-fiber towels. If the weather conditions are favorable and not very windy, It's great to lightly spray the product directly on the surface, immediately buffing the product into the surface, polishing as you buff. Always follow up with a dry micro-fiber towel(s) to do the final buff, buffing the product into the surface so it can fully penetrate. Remember: TopCoat® F11™ is water-based, so your first micro-fiber towel will consistently get damp with every spray and wipe, thus the reason to use a second, dry, micro-fiber towel to complete the buff to ensure the coating is polished in properly. For first time applications, wash and clean the bike or vehicle and get off any dirt, debris, coating or film. Always towel dry every surface after washing to prevent water spots and dry before you apply TopCoat® F11™. If you have a recently applied wax or detail spray coating on the surface, try to remove it if possible, or wait at least 5 days before you apply TopCoat®. Try not to use soaps, or soaps with wax or silicone in it as you want the TopCoat® sealer to bond to the substrate directly, not the other coating applied. If you do have wax on it, don't worry, the TopCoat® will start to work its way through it. A second coat of TopCoat® a day or two later, a week, will fully get through any waxes that may have been left behind, allowing full bond at that point. Maintenance will become easier with every application, it's very noticeable. You will eventually just start wiping TopCoat® surfaces down with just a micro-fiber towel as the coating provides a very slick, easy-release and non-stick coated surface that is very durable. The more applications, the easier and the better the results, while enhancing and extending the duration of the coating and its ability to protect from the elements. You will also find out that you won't have to wash your vehicle as much, if at all, as the dirt, grime, and debris won’t build up or stick as before. A heavy rain will actually wash 95+% of your vehicle or bike. Now, detailing 101 and common sense. If you live in an area that is extremely dirty, like on a dirt road, you can still wash but we only recommend plain water and a cellulous sponge as 99.9% of everything will come off, including bugs, road film, bird droppings, dirt, tar, etc. The coating can be applied in direct sunlight also, but for best results, detailing 101 again, for best results apply out of the sun in ambient temperature.

Detailing 101: Always test products in an inconspicuous area first to ensure proper results. We can’t test for every single issue, event, chemical combination, or situation. Use common sense, what we call detailing 101 knowledge.

Warranty: Since conditions of actual product use are beyond the control of TopCoat®, no warranty, expressed or implied, is made and TopCoat® will not be liable for any losses, injuries, or consequential damages, which may result from the use or reliance of purchased product. You can apply the coating as little or often as you like, but detailing 101, you should apply at least every 3 month to allow the product to work effectively and gain all the benefits. We tell people every month from a detailing perspective as it's so easy to use, and you ensure your "investment" is maintained properly, inside to out, consistently. We have many customers that apply it every 6 months too. You can apply it whenever your vehicles starts showing dirt! The more you use, the better the results and easier the maintenance. The effective life span is based on the area and conditions, and the physical wear of the coating from car washes, physical ablation.
How long will a bottle last?
The 16oz bottle of F11 will coat your entire bike many times over. Typically, when you do your first application you will use more, somewhere around 2 ounces. Once you have your bike coated you will notice that you won't have to use as much of the product moving forward. The typical amount of product used is under an ounce. As an example, an entire Ford F350 will use 2 ounces on the first application. Once the first application is applied, you will expect to use an average of 1/2 – 1 ounce depending on how dirty the surface is, mainly the rims. Now, using common sense, if your bike or vehicle is excessively dirty, you will obviously use a little more in proportion to the surface conditions. Note: Lightly mist F11™ on the surface, a little bit goes a long way. Heavily spraying it only wastes the product. More isn’t necessarily better.
Coating Longevity
The avg. life is 3-6 months. The life of the coating depends on how much abuse it take from physical wear from car washes, hand washes, harsh chemicals, detergents, abusive weather or environmental conditions etc. Inside the home it can last over a year.
Will TopCoat® F11™ work on Denim, matte, or flat finishes or powder-coatings such as the engine?
The product can be used on denim, as well as the powder-coating on the engines. When applying F11 to denim, make sure to buff the F11™ into the paint immediately after you apply it, whether by direct misting, or applying F11™ with a micro-fiber applicator pad. Buff the F11 into the paint until the desired effect is achieved. F11™ only enhances the material you apply it too, so flats stay flat as intended, gloss surfaces become shinier. F11 brings back the original colors of material whether it is plastic, vinyl, leather, rubber and more. Shiny surfaces “pop” especially on dark colors, metallic paints, high luster surfaces like chrome and more.
Direct Sunlight
TopCoat® F11™ coating can be applied in direct sunlight, although for the best application process, apply the coating at ambient temperature and out of the sunlight to ensure the best surface conditions.
Hot Surfaces
Although TopCoat® F11™ can be applied to a warm surface, the product should be applied to a cool surface to ensure proper application. If your engine, rims, exhausts, etc. are hot, let them cool down before you apply the coating.
Will TopCoat® F11™ freeze?
Yes. However, it will NOT be affected unless it freezes more than 3 or 4 times. At that point the product will not perform.
Is TopCoat® F11™ flammable?
No, you can use TopCoat® F11™ on any surface from engines, grill, stoves, etc.
Can you apply TopCoat® F11™ to your seats or walking areas?
As the manufacturer the answer is NO, although its safe and does wonders to vinyls, leather, and fabrics, gelcoats, and more. F11™ is a slick coating so use common sense when applying. Due to legalities, we can’t tell you to coat these areas.
Surface Preparations
Before F11™ is applied, make sure your bike, vehicle, or surface is cleaned first.  You can use any products to wash but preferably use products without wax in it, or any synthetic “coating” for “protection” as the F11™ won’t bond properly on the first application. However, each application of F11™ will push out any other coatings that were there and F11™ will eventually bond 100% to the substrate. If you want to add several coats of F11™ to your surfaces, wait at least 24-48 hours between coats to ensure effective performance. Multiple, consecutive coats can be applied, but you will not achieve the benefits as you would by allowing one application to “set up” or “cure” first within the stated time frame. Clay Bar: If you have any contaminants in the paint, overspray, or hardened fallout where you need or want to Clay your paint, you can clay it and use F11™ as the solution, thus claying and adding the coating all at the same time! F11™ works amazing with clay bars.
Can I apply TopCoat® F11™ to new paint?
As always, don't coat your fresh paint job with the product as you need the paint to "breath" to cure properly.  The recommended time frame for water based paints is generally around 90 days for full cure, based on the climate in your part of the world. You can keep the same guidelines for TopCoat® F11™ like you would a wax when it comes to applying the product after a fresh paint job.  We have coated many fresh paints after 30 days however.
How do I remove TopCoat® F11™ for painting, decal, etc. purposes?
To remove TopCoat® F11™, you can use aliphatic or aromatic solvents (i.e., glycol ethers, benzene, toluene, hexane) or even a high concentrate Isopropyl Alcohol will break it down based on how much TopCoat® has been applied.
Oxidation:
If your paint is lightly oxidized, TopCoat® F11™ usually cuts through it depending on how much oxidation there is, but, if the F11™ doesn’t do anything then you need to buff or wet sand the surface to remove it. If you have medium to heavy oxidation, detailing 101, you must buff and or wet sand your paint to get the desired surface characteristics you want as F11™ will not correct this. However, apply the F11 after the surface preparation to maintain that polished surface moving forward.
Existing Water Spots and Other Imperfections?
If your paint or glass has water spots or paint imperfections, TopCoat® F11™ will enhance these imperfections and show them immediately. This will allow you to see them more clearly and remove them accordingly.
Is F11™ safe on vinyl graphics, clear front end wraps, wraps, etc?
YES. F11™ can be used on all acrylics and plastics and will NOT damage or yellow them. F11™ can be applied to motorcycle windshields, eisenglass on boats, aviation windshields, window tint, wraps on vehicles, vinyl stickers, any films, and more. TopCoat® F11™ will fill in swirls and micro-scratches in these materials, a huge advantage that improves optical clarity, especially for aviation, as direct sunlight will enhance any micro-scratches in the windshields impeding proper clarity and visibility. TopCoat® F11™ is a must on windshields for the ultimate in visibility and safety as its extremely hydrophobic, out-performing other windshield treatment coatings on the market. TopCoat® F11™ is not greasy, eliminating any hueing effects under lights, and does not impede the use of wipers like other products that cause streaking or loss of visibility. One of the unique aspects of the coating is its non-stick and easy release characteristics, thus any dirt and debris won’t build up as fast. Bugs wipe off more easily. Understand, surfaces will still get dirty with day to day conditions, but not as much, or as fast as before. Heavy rains will wash 95% of the vehicle. When the bike or vehicle reaches a dirty point, depending on the amount of dirt, either wipe it down with F11™, or wash it with water and a cellulous sponge, then re-apply F11™. Your geographical area and environmental conditions will dictate the proper course of action. Sand or heavy dirt build up requires washing, light film or light dirt and build-up can be removed by simply using TopCoat®. Each application of TopCoat® will only enhance and improve the surface, again making it easier to clean and maintain. Now, against traditional thought, if you have TopCoat® F11™ already on the surface, remember, the dirt and debris will come off much easier, so all you need to do is spray the F11™ over the lightly dirty surface and wipe it off, literally! Use a little more of the F11™ when doing this to ensure adequate coverage and saturation of the surface, but you will be amazed that it won’t scratch the paint, equal to using a car soap. Again, detailing 101 and common sense though…..if you have heavy sand or dirt sticking, hose it off, knock it off, or blow it off as yes, there’s always a chance you may scratch you paint with larger debris.
Is TopCoat® F11™ safe for food prep surfaces?
We have not done FDA testing to be certified for food prep surfaces, so as the manufacturer the answer is no. TopCoat® F11™ is amazing on stainless steel, cabinets, back splashes, glass, mirrors, etc. as grease will wipe easily wipe off, finger prints won’t stick, it won’t leave behind a greasy sticky residue, it’s not flammable, and it brings out the natural look of the materials you coat.
